Rooted in Play
At Corner Garden Preschool, we hold deeply engaging play opportunities as one of our main priorities. By minimizing transitions and having a predictable flow to our days, children have the time, space, and security to be fully immersed in their play.
We recognize that the outdoors is an incredibly valuable environment for children. It inherently provides rich ground for learning, exporting, curiosity, and wonder.
As early childhood teachers, we see ourselves more as facilitators than direct instructors. We arrange the space, provide the time and materials, and then we observe. What are the children in our group most drawn to? What do they ignore? What ideas and questions are arising in their play that we can build upon with them as a team?
No matter the weather, we do our best to get outside…
Play can be Messy
Yes, it’s Wisconsin. Despite our long, cold winters and rainy, muddy springs, we love it here. Aside from the coldest days, we make sure to spend time outside.
